sprout: Dicentra

Dicentra is a genus of about 20 species of herbaceous flowering plants in the family Fumariaceae, native to Asia and North America. The common name Bleeding heart is used for many of the species. This name comes from the appearance of the pink flower, which resembles the shape of a heart with a drop of blood descending. - Wikipedia

the name bleeding heart appeared in a book i've been reading for the past few weeks, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, and gave me the idea immediately.

first drawing featuring Joanna. Joanna is a squeeze doll and doesn't have legs, in stead she has her skirt all the way down to the ground and then a rather abrupt flat surface on the bottom. so i had to invent her legs.
