insomnia
Three different types of insomnia exist: transient, acute, and chronic
- Transient Insomnia lasts from one night to a few weeks. Most people occasionally suffer from transient insomnia due to such causes as jet lag or short-term anxiety. If this form of insomnia continues to occur from time to time, the insomnia is classified as intermittent.
- Acute Insomnia is the inability to consistently sleep well for a period of between three weeks to six months.
- Chronic Insomnia is regarded as the most serious; persists almost nightly for at least a month.

little compositions
three typographical doodles. these are facts though. did them for a class assignment at SVA. the teacher, Palladino, likes to talk about and use symbols and images, and i think that's why i went typographic. >:-)) good exercise though, especially now that i better understand my students, ha-ha.

natural selection
"... selection for toughness, heroism, and social utility...must be accomplished by some human institution, if mankind, in default of selective factors, is not to be ruined by domestication-induced degeneracy. The racial idea as the basis of our state has already accomplished much in this respect." - in justification of Nazi party, 1940, Konrad Lorenz
New York, a wonderful labyrinth of socially created artificial races, the divisions and segregations.

fundamentals of insomnia
Insomnia is characterized by an inability to sleep and/or inability to remain asleep for a reasonable period. Insomniacs typically complain of being unable to close their eyes or "rest their mind" for more than a few minutes at a time.
insomnia is another chronic disease/disorder that i have. i wanted to talk a bit more about sleep disorders, and here is one of my attempts.

at Pick Me up in East Village. seems someone left a doodling and the owner decided to post it on a wall. i recognized Korean letters in one corner, and for some reason took this shot with my cell phone. strangely all of their candles were like the second photo. i thought it made a beautifully surreal scene against their old walls and other objects.

narcolepsy - behavioral therapy
Several treatments are available for narcolepsy. In addition to drug therapy, an important part of treatment is scheduling short and controlled naps (10 to 15 minutes) two to three times per day to help control excessive daytime sleepiness and help the person stay as alert as possible. Naps can be controlled more precisely by use of funnel shaped protective gear worn around the neck.
